Last week we interviewed Chris Lewis and Inez Odom on our digital download podcast
Chris and Inez work for Team Lewis
You can watch the podcast here
During the podcast, Chris asks the question “where do people get their best ideas?”
You may know about the Eureka effect?
Eureka (which means "I have found it" in Greek)
The term comes from Archimedes, who was an ancient Greek mathematician, physicist, engineer, astronomer, and inventor
He was sitting in the bath, where he suddenly realised the solution to a previously unsolvable puzzle become clear and obvious and he shouted “Eureka”
When Chris asked where do the best ideas come from he pointed out three things
- We are not in the office, sitting in the bath maybe?
- We are not with other people
- We are not thinking
In conclusion, our conversation with Chris Lewis and Inez Odom left us with a powerful reminder: the best ideas often come when we step away from the noise
Whether it’s in the bath like Archimedes, on a walk, or in a quiet moment alone, creativity thrives in stillness
Chris’s three observations—that we’re not in the office, not with others, and not actively thinking; challenge the conventional wisdom about productivity
Perhaps the next big breakthrough won’t come from a brainstorming session or a boardroom, but from giving ourselves the space to simply be
So, the next time you’re stuck, take a step back—you might just have your own "Eureka" moment.
Where do you get your best ideas?
Can you drive revenue from social media?
