There is a saying that there are 2 important days in your life
The day you are born and the day when you know why you were born
When I started DLA Ignite, 8 and half years ago I knew why I had been born
That was purpose enough until my father past away 2 years ago
Something strange happened at his funeral
People I didn't know, came up to me and said
“If it wasn’t for your dad, I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Here were “strangers”, thanking me for what my father did for them
This moment changed my life
It made me reflect on my own purpose not in terms of wealth or accolades
But how I can support others
My father, was a sound engineer at the BBC
He used his position to mentor, advocate for diversity, and support colleagues
Remember this was 40 years ago!
Without realising it, he had left an enduring mark on many lives
My Dad didn't boast about this, I didn't even know he was doing it
In the podcast I'm interviewed by Bernie Borges
The podcast is called Midlife Fulfilled Podcast and I talk about this journey
Bernie explains that this is a "powerful reminder that legacy isn’t about making history—it’s about making an impact, and self-awareness that each of us has the opportunity to leave a legacy, even if the impact is just for one person
It's a reminder to build your legacy every day"
In this podcast I share things I haven't written about or shared before
Hope you enjoy it
