If you are an instagram user you must go and claim your handle on Threads, if you don't intend using threads.

Treads is the new social network from Facebook / Meta / Instragram that looks very much like Twitter.

How do you claim your handle as an Instagram user?

Just search using the word "threads" in Instagram and you will see a "ticket" to the right of the search bar, that will allow you to claim your Instagram handle

It also gives you a nice ticket to get in, which you can screenshot, mine is below.  

It will also take you to the app in the app store.

Up to you if you download the software, but at least you have your handle and nobody can claim it.
