In this article by Gartner, they talk about "digital twins" but it all seems very far away and with little or no impact on us a business leaders. What on earth has it go to do with day-to-day workings of finding leads and meetings, having conversations with prospects, sending out proposals and closing business?
I think most people will think the term "digital twin" has nothing to do with the day-to-day of running a business.
I'm sorry but it does,
I'm not going to quote Gartner's definition of a "digital twin" as it's full of jargon.
Let's dive in and understand what a digital twin is
If you think about us in the physical world, there is us, feeding that cat or walking the dog. But as soon as we step onto say Linkedin, Twitter or TikTok we are in the digital world. Social media is a conduit from the physical to the digital world.
That means your Linkedin profile, which is on digital, is your "digital twin". And just as much you want people to know who you are, that you are knowledgeable, trustworthy and somebody people should place business with ..... in the physical world.
The same can be applied to your Linkedin profile, which is you in the digital world and is your "digital twin".
But what sort of return can I get on social selling?
One of our clients has obtained a 10,000:1 ROI with their social selling project.
Just think, if you give me $1 I give you $10,000, that should be a business case enough for you to grasp that understanding your digital twin is critical for the future of your business in terms of market share, growth and competitive advantage.

Innovation No. 3: Digital twin of a person (DToP) not only mirrors a unique individual, but is also a near-real-time synchronized multipresence, with the ability to be present in multiple places at the same time in both digital and physical spaces. Innovation No. 4: Digital twin of a customer (DToC), a subset of DToP, is a dynamic virtual representation of a customer that simulates and learns to emulate and anticipate behavior. Customers can be individuals, personas, groups of people or machines.
