I’m not a person that goes fishing
I went once when I was a teenager and didn’t catch anything
So, when on holiday in the Pantanal in Brazil, I was asked by the guide
“Do you fancy going fishing for Piranhas today?”
I thought I would give it a go
For those that don’t know, the Pantanal is a vast wetland in South America that straddles Brazil, Bolivia, and Paraguay
I went in the summer so waters were low and the fishing opportunity greater
Same number of fish, but less water
Anybody who's been fishing will probably be thinking yes, whatever, I’ve been fishing before
Actually, when you fish for Piranhas do the opposite of what you might do if you were fishing
- It’s OK to make a noise
- Yes, you use bait, but you bang your rod on the water to make it look like a dying fish
Yes, you have to handle them carefully as they have a nasty bite
What do they taste like?
They are like carp, a “bottom feeder” they clear up the water “rubbish”
They are good in a fish curry, but they can be very gritty
What has this got to do with B2B sales and marketing?
Sometimes the way to success is to zig when everybody else is zagging
