Last week I past the 400th interview anniversary on my #TimTalk podcast.

I was asked on LinkedIn, what equipment would somebody need to start a podcast.

The answer is none.

The camera and microphone on your existing PC / Mac should work fine.

In other words, you don't need any sophisticated equipment to start a podcast.

The important thing is to get started.

Modern PCs and Apple Macs, that have been purchased after the Covid pandemic, tend of to have significantly upgraded built in cameras and microphones.  My iMac camera and microphone is adequate and you wouldn't need to upgrade.

As you do more and more episodes, you might want to invest in a microphone, something like a

  • Logitech Blue Yeti OR
  • Rode NT-USB+ Condenser Microphone
