In this article, they discuss the need for better "marketing", they are not so much talking about the marketing department, but could be.  They are talking about sharing all the amazing things you do in your company with the world.

"During a time when businesses in almost every industry are struggling to recruit and retain employees, we’ve seen many companies enter a unique situation."

Whenever we buy something today, what do we do?  We reach for our mobile phones.  We go online and we search; Google, websites, discussions groups, we look for information and advice up on social media, we look the employees up on social media, etc, etc.

When a customer walks into a BMW garage, they know that the buyer knows more than the salesperson.  This is the unique situation you are in as a business.

The same with the modern buyer, the same is true of the modern job hunter.

In fact the article states

"According to Glassdoor, 86% of HR professionals say that recruitment is becoming more like marketing.

According to a CareerArc study, 96% of job seekers use social media when conducting a job search, and LinkedIn Talent Solutions suggests that 49% of professionals follow companies on social media to stay aware of job opportunities."

It's worth saying that job hunters (and buyers) are not looking for brochures they are looking for, your culture, your diversity policy, your position on ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance), your inclusion policy.

Feeling the labour shortage? Empowering your employees on social could be the solution

In my third book "social selling - techniques to influence buyers and changemakers - 2nd edition", I got a headhunter, so a recruiter to write a section on what he is looking for on social for a good candidate.  And it's not a Linkedin profile that's a CV, in fact he avoids people that do that.  He knows that good employees are looking for people with digital skills and he explains what you need to do to get your next job.

"social selling - techniques to influence buyers and changemakers - 2nd edition" is on Amazon worldwide.
