Are you on LinkedIn because of FOMO?
LinkedIn has so many amazing features & functions to help you stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately not everyone that’s on here has really worked out ‘why’ they are here. It’s almost a FOMO (fear of missing out) thing.
There seems to be two reasons why people only update their profile on LinkedIn?
1) Looking for a job/work
2) Found a job/work
After that nothing, other than what they do, new title etc.
What about ‘why’ they do it?
Example - type in ‘your’ name into the search function - see how many people come up with the same name or job title.
You gotta be smarter than the other “Bob Jones slightly interesting guy from IT” or "helpful Mary from HR" that’s on here.
If your looking to make your next move, or get a meeting with that next client, Social Media and especially LinkedIn is one of a number of valuable places to showcase not just what you do, but ‘why’ you do it.
For most it’s free, for everyone it simply needs time, effort and consistency.
With circa 300m monthly active users the opportunity to open up new relationships, and cultivate meaningful conversations with like minded people is just a bit of extra effort effort away.
So, go and create conversations, you’ll be amazed at where it takes you.
Oh, there is another reason some folks do stuff with their profile - so they can advertise things.
