Just reading a really interesting article on 'Medium', if your not subscribed you should go do it, some great stuff on there.

Headlines from the piece go something like this (link to article below)

We were originally labeled “slackers” due to our disinterest in mimicking the hypocrisy of the Boomers. But once Cobain died and the internet arrived, Generation X saw a chance to truly change the world.

Amazon’s Jeff Bezos just missed the mark, born in 1964. But Google’s Larry Page and Sergy Brin, Tesla’s Elon Musk, Twitter’s Jack, Biz, and Ev, and even Michael Dell — they’re all Gen Xers. In fact, 55% of startup founders are from Generation X.

At DLA Ignite I can say without fear or prejudice that we are definitely not Gen Z, neither are we Millenials (yet), but we are working with and finding folks who are. To be honest, most of us probably fall into the bracket of Gen X.

I don't know about you but I find it all somewhat confusing when we're consigned to to rear end of the queue in the Alphabet. Reality is that its each generations role to learn from the generations before them, however their biggest role is to also challenge and change the status quo, after all, that's how we get progress isn't it?

My parents generation grew up in an industrial world, I grew up in an analog world which transformed into digital, and today for my Children, its mainly a digital world, there's progress for you.

The generations coming through today no nothing other than a 'digitally connected world, they can connect and talk to people from different backgrounds, cultures and places around the globe as if they were in the same room. They are are inspired by the likes of Bezos, Zuckerberg and their own peers on Social platforms, everything is instantly available to them at the click of a mouse, or the scroll tap and click of a phone.

Previous generations were inspired by the likes of Edison, Tesla, Ford, Brunel, Gates, Jobs, The Beatles, The Who, Elton, Madonna etc.

Every generation has had to adapt to social and economic changes or lose out, so why do we still see so many companies clinging to outdated 'intrusive marketing' techniques.

We are active 'practitioners' of what we do, we already know and can evidence the ROI of a robust and internally aligned 'Social' strategy.

Part of that evidence it that you are reading this blog, just like many others - including your competitor!

We also don't do outbound pushy, salesy marketing, so if you would like to explore more, please contact the author of this blog.
