In August 2022, I finally returned to Lanzarote, some 30 years after my last visit. Amazingly, the island’s unique charm hadn't changed a bit. This time, we stayed at the Holiday Property Bond (HPB) Santa Rosa apartments in Costa Teguise, located on the eastern coast. It was actually thanks to HPB’s excellent customer service that we discovered the island’s fantastic, entirely cashless bus network

Back in my 20s and 30s, my instinct would have been to hire a car. Now, however, I genuinely prefer using public transport. It gets you so much closer to the local culture and the people who live there. Plus, what’s not to like about being chauffeur-driven around a destination? Instead of stressing over a GPS or watching the road, you can just sit back and watch the landscape roll by

Using the bus, we easily explored the capital of Arrecife, headed south to Playa Blanca, and even ventured up to La Graciosa, a small island just north of Lanzarote. After a short ferry ride, we stepped off into the charming town of Caleta de Sebo, which is packed with lovely restaurants and sits just a scenic walk away from the beautiful sands of Playa Francesa

If you go, a quick word of warning: pack plenty of sunscreen and consider covering up. Because of the island's famous breeze, the sun can feel deceptively cool, but don't be fooled, it will still burn!

Conclusion

Whether it's pointing you toward the local bus routes or finding the perfect dining spot, staying with HPB makes all the difference. They always know exactly where the best restaurants are. If you want to spend an evening sharing a paella for two while watching the sunset, they won't just tell you where to go, they'll book the table for you, too. Taking the bus and letting the experts guide the way turned out to be the perfect formula for rediscovering Lanzarote
