Crossing the road is easy isn’t?

Not in Hanoi in Vietnam

In the world wealth, or relative wealth is visual in different ways

In Moscow, Johannesburg, Bangkok and Jakarta it’s shown in cars

A taxi driver in each of those cities has told me that they have the worst traffic in the world

They all have terrible traffic, but it shows relative wealth

In London, where I live, its building cranes on the skyline

So what about Hanoi?

What's a sign of relative wealth?

In what was north Vietnam the sign you have made it is a motorbike / scooter

So imagine this; a busy street

No think busier

And with people walking but on scooters

And they don’t stop (see the photo I took in 2009)

So as you step off the pavement the scooters heads straight for you

And that’s the point

They assume you will keep moving

So if they head towards you, as you are moving

You won’t be there

And that’s the trick

As the onslaught of scooters head towards you, keep moving

Don’t hesitate and don’t stop

If you go to Hanoi, I would love to hear how you get on crossing the road
