Sometimes, a simple farewell can turn into an unforgettable story

My mum has a double garage, or at least, she did

At the time, it had two separate doors with a central divider between them

One afternoon, as she waved goodbye to a friend, things took an unexpected turn

Instead of reversing out of the driveway, her friend accidentally shifted into drive, and hit the accelerator

In a split second, the car surged forward, crashing straight into the divider between the two doors

The impact was so strong that the entire garage collapsed

The fire brigade had to be called to cut him out of the car (there’s even a photo to prove it)

But what’s remarkable is that, to this day, her friend has never admitted liability

On his insurance claim, he reported his car only “a couple of scratches.”

It took two years, but my mum finally had the garage rebuilt, stronger than ever
